Who we are
The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Unit (J4D) at the Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre
is an acute care psychiatry unit. We offer a coordinated and comprehensive service for children, adolescents and families facing emotional, social and behavioural challenges. We have space available for up to eight inpatient beds and day patients at this site.
Who we see
We help children and adolescents 18 years of age and under who are experiencing mental health issues.
How to access this service
Admission is determined and coordinated through child and adolescent intake . Physicians and health professionals can fax a completed mental health and addictions referral form (PDF) to 709-752-6852 or email it to MHAIntake@easternhealth.ca.
A physician’s referral is required to access outpatient psychiatry.

What about school while at the unit?
The Janeway Hospital School is part of the Eastern School District and follows the provincial curriculum set by the Department of Education. Hospital school teachers work closely with the student’s home school to maintain his/her academic program in core subject areas.
