About Us
The Mental Health and Addictions Program offers a number of services to diagnose, treat, support, prevent and promote mental health and addictions within individuals, families and communities. This includes:
- individual, family and group counselling;
- detoxification;
- e-mental health options;
- inpatient treatment;
- housing options;
- case management;
- leisure programming;
- crisis response; and
- urgent/emergent care.
We also have programs that focus on mental health promotion, prevention and early intervention.
We are guided by the Mental Health Care and Treatment Act. The act is rights-based legislation that provides for the mandated treatment, care and supervision of people living with severe and persistent mental illness in Newfoundland and Labrador.
We provide services to children, youth, adults and seniors in both rural and urban settings throughout the eastern region.
Our interdisciplinary teams can be found on inpatient units, in community clinics, schools, correctional facilities and are involved in numerous support groups, training sessions, life skills programs and committees.
New Adult Mental Health and Addictions facility (NAMHAF)
With the new Adult Mental Health and Addictions facility (NAMHAF), we have the opportunity to re-imagine the future direction of mental health and addictions services. We are working hard to achieve our vision of mental wellness for everyone and create a new service facility that creates a holistic and welcoming environment towards recovery.
