Janeway Family Centre
What we do
The Janeway Family Centre is an outpatient service. We offer counselling and therapy services for children, youth and families who are facing emotional, social or behavioural challenges. Our team can provide you with individual, group and family therapy.
Our team also offers consultation to other health professionals on difficult cases.
Specialized groups:
- Children and adolescents groups with concurrent parent component:
- Family violence (V.O.I.C.E) ages 3 to 12
- Separation and divorce (It’s Okay) ages 7 to 12
- Anxiety (Cool Kids) ages 8 to 12
- Empowerment for girls (Between Teens) ages 14 to 17 (no parent component)
- Parent groups:
- Raising families – parents of children ages 2 to 12
- Parenting young children – parents of children ages 2 to 12
- Parenting your adolescent – parents of children age 12+
- Father’s Network – dads only
- Separation and divorce (It’s Okay) – parents of children ages 7 to 12
- Soul Guardian – parents of children up to up to age 18
Who we see
- Children up to their 18th birthday.

- Anxiety
- Attachment issues
- Behavioral concerns
- Changes in families
- Childhood trauma and maltreatment
- Depression
- Family conflict
- Questions about development and behaviour
- Relationship difficulties
- School refusal
- Separation and divorce
- Sexuality
How to access this service
Admission is determined and coordinated through child and youth intake. Physicians and health professionals can fax a completed mental health and addictions referral form (PDF) to 709-777-2211 or email it to childyouthintake@easternhealth.ca.

Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., along with some evening parenting groups.
