What we do
The acute care psychiatric unit in West 3A at the Waterford Hospital is a 21-bed teaching unit. We promote a recovery model approach to our care and offer an interdisciplinary approach towards assessment and treatment of mental health problems and mental illness during the acute phase. We provide interdisciplinary assessment, acute intervention and follow-up. We maintain close links with community.
Patient expectations
While on the unit, you are encouraged to: participate in the groups that are available on the unit; to participate in visiting hours; to participate in visits with others on the unit in the main lounge and to participate in activities such as doing crafts and reading books and magazines on the unit.
